The wow factor is constant at Viking Line’s
new ship Viking Glory.

Travelling between Stockholm and Turku can now be a world-class design experience. This cruise - a climate-smart passenger ship.

It houses restaurants, spa, shopping, conference-rooms, and a nightclub. The stylish interiors are designed by interior designers Koncept.

The lighting concept is bold, detailed and sparkling in every detail, in complete harmony with the interior. Light Bureau designed the lighting for all public areas and cabins in close collaboration with Koncept.

The client wanted the ship to be a travel
destination in itself and Koncept had a very strong vision for each area. The
challenge was to translate their visons into functional and realistic lighting
solutions and still reach the wow factor.

照明设计师的目标是通过不同的光特性来提升气氛，例如间接照明、装饰照明、开放光源等。最终拟定了一个极具性价比的照明解决方案，与不同的场景和周围环境以及不同功能相协调的照明。
We aimed to elevate the atmosphere with different light characteristics, e.g., indirect lighting, graze lighting, open light sources etc. The result is a cost-efficient lighting solution with varied scenarios and well-balanced light levels in tune with the surroundings and different functions of each area.

Unlike most other hospitality projects,
this building is actually moving and most of all, vibrating. Therefore, every
luminaire needed to have an extra stable mounting, which led to a lot of
contact with manufacturers, assuring this would be doable.
设计师希望照明能够通过创造温暖而诱人的空间来最大化地实现独特的体验和氛围。重要的是灯光与室内的奢华感相一致，并实现光与内饰的互动。
We wanted the lighting to maximize the
exclusive experience and atmosphere, by creating warm and inviting spaces. It
was important that the lighting corresponded with the interior feeling of
luxury. The lighting should be experienced as luxurious as the decor and
interact completely with it.
根据照明设计师的方案，Koncept 调整了既定的室内细节，以使照明原则发挥最大作用。同时照明设计师还参与了木工的设计，以确保这些木工与照明良好配合，例如天花板结构、墙板、固定家具的底座、楼梯栏杆、吧台等。
Based on our input Koncept were willing to
adapt selected interior details to make the lighting principles work. We also
took part in the design of the fixed carpentry to ensure that these worked well
together with the lighting, e.g., the ceiling construction, wall panels, the
base of the fixed furniture, stair railings, bars, etc.
邮轮的不同区域具有不同的功能，照明设计经过精心定制，以相应增强每个区域的效果。比如，在水疗中心等安静的区域，没有可见光源；另外，照明灯具被谨慎地集成到家具和凹槽中，确保精致的内饰材料占据中心舞台，充当主角。
The different areas of the ship serve distinct functions, and
the lighting design has been thoughtfully tailored to enhance each area
accordingly. In restful and calm areas, like the spas, there are no visible
light sources; instead, lighting fixtures have been discreetly integrated into
the furnishings and recesses, ensuring that the exquisite materials take center
stage.

在“市场”区域，可见光和隐藏光源的巧妙融合取得了显著的效果。功能性照明被巧妙地调暗并精确地引导到最需要的地方，而装饰性的、闪烁的灯光则反射在光滑的表面上，营造出房间充满活力的氛围。
In the ‘Market’ area, a clever fusion of both visible and
concealed lighting sources has been employed to great effect. Functional
lighting is skillfully dimmed and precisely directed to where it’s needed most,
while decorative, shimmering light accents reflect off glossy surfaces,
contributing to the room’s vibrant ambiance.

在俱乐部区域“Vista”内，灯带在整个房间设计中发挥着决定性作用。得益于高效的照明控制系统，这些灯带可以调整到完美的照度水平，将光无缝地与空间融入，形成一个完整的、非凡的视觉体验，而不仅仅是在房间投射出普通、均匀的光线。
Within ‘Vista’, the nightclub area, luminous lines play a
defining role in the overall room design. Thanks to an efficient lighting
control system, these lines can be adjusted to the perfect level, seamlessly
integrating them into the visual experience without casting a mundane, uniform
light across the room.

In various areas, the lighting along the wall sections between windows plays a pivotal role. Given the ship’s strong connection to the archipelago through its expansive panoramic windows, managing daylight poses a unique challenge. Excessive contrast can occur, causing well-lit rooms to appear dark.

To address this, the wall sections feature thoughtfully designed indirect lighting, casting a gentle and even glow. This approach creates a harmonious transition between the interior and the spectacular views, allowing passengers to fully appreciate both realms simultaneously.
