The successful applicant will possess a Ph.D. in civil and environmental engineering, bioengineering, biochemistry, or related fields, and have an excellent academic record. The candidate should have extensive experience in synthetic biology, protein expression, purification, and characterization, and biocatalysis/enzyme catalysis.

Meng Wang is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Pittsburgh. His research focuses on applying synthetic biology, protein engineering, and immobilization tools to enhance the selectivity and kinetics of biocatalytic processes for environmental remediation, resource recovery, and carbon sequestration. Meng earned his B.S. in Environmental Science from Nanjing University and M.S. and Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering from the University of California, Los Angeles, where he also did two-year postdoctoral research. His research has been published in Accounts of Chemical Research, ACS Nano, Bioresource Technology, ACS Sustainable Chemistry and Engineering, Chemical Engineering Journal, and Biotechnology and Bioengineering.
