Multiple Ph.D. Candidate and Postdoctoral Associate Positions Available in Nanotechnology, Imaging, and Brain Research

The Nano-Bio Laboratory at the University of Texas at Dallas (UT Dallas) is looking for highly motivated postdoctoral associates and Ph.D. candidates to join our dynamic team. Our interdisciplinary research focuses on developing nanotechnology-based approaches to better understand and overcome brain barriers and to revolutionize point-of-care infectious disease diagnostics. Recent efforts have led to innovative tools enabling the transient opening of the blood-brain barrier, optically probing the brain extracellular space, and developing innovative diagnostic methods. Our work has received funding from both federal and state agencies (NSF, NIH, CDMRP, and CPRIT), as well as non-profit organizations (American Heart Association). Our lab works closely with active researchers at UT Dallas and other institutes, including UT Southwestern Medical Center, Harvard Medical School, Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, Yale, UC Berkeley, Caltech, and Stanford. Our work has led to the formation of several biotech startup companies. Interested candidates can find more information on our website (https://www.nanobrainlab.net/).

We have several open positions available in the interdisciplinary area of nanomaterials, brain imaging and blood-brain barrier research. Among the opportunities in these research areas:

1. We are seeking 2 postdoctoral associates with a strong background and interest in nanomaterials, neurophotonics and imaging, and/or blood-brain barrier to join a multidisciplinary and highly collaborative team. Successful candidates will work on developing novel techniques to image microscale brain structures, and on engineering the blood-brain barrier for drug delivery into the central nervous system. Experience in one or more of the following is attractive for the position: functional brain imaging, blood-brain barrier modulation, focused ultrasound technique, viral and non-viral delivery, lipid nanoparticle formulation, cancer immunotherapy, neuroscience, and animal disease models. Successful postdoctoral applicants should have a Ph.D. in engineering, materials science, biology, or neuroscience. Ideal candidates should be able to work in a collaborative environment, lead projects, learn new skills, communicate effectively, and accommodate some local or domestic travel for collaborative studies if/when necessary.

2. We have multiple Ph.D. candidate positions for students with a background in mechanical engineering, biomedical engineering, electrical engineering, or material sciences with high self-motivation. Students will be rigorously trained to perform and publish scientific research in the interdisciplinary area and will have the opportunity for joint training at UT Dallas and our collaborator institutions.

These projects are supported by grant funding from NIH, NSF, CDMRP, and CPRIT. Interested candidates should send a cover letter, indicating their interest, along with their CV, top 3 publications (for postdoc positions), and references in PDF format to Dr. Qin ( Zhenpeng.Qin@utdallas.edu ). Successful applicants will receive competitive salaries and benefits. These positions are open immediately, and we are interviewing candidates on a rolling basis.
