From Bondage to Bondage:Analysis of Jessica in The Merchant of Venice

Jessica,the daughter of Shylock in The Merchant of Venice,has often been hailed as a free woman after she disentangles herself from the bondage of her patriarchal tither.However,this paper argues that she is still prejudiced against by her new friends because she is considered to be a Jewess by blood.So her flight from her tither is not an escape from bondage but a plunge into another kind of bondage.
