There is abundant of proven oil reserves in Africa. Up to 2010, the proven oil reserves in Africa is 132.1billion barrels which makes it more than North America （73.3 billion barrdels） and Asia-Pacific（42.2 billion barrels）, which stands for 9.6% of global total and estimated to be explored for 36 years. The major African countries with big proven reserves are Libya （46.4 billion barrels, 3.4% of world total）, Nigeria （37.2 billion barrels, 2.7% of world total）, Angola （13.5 billion barrels, 1.0% of world total）, Algeria （12.2 billion barrels, 0.9% of world total） and Sudan （6.7 billion barrels, 0.5% of world total）.
