Linguistic Politeness and Impoliteness Analysis

This paper aims to interrogate the relationship between politeness and impoliteness for pragmatics study. Away from the model whereby individual speech acts are considered to be inherently, polite or impolite, one argument is that stereotypes of gender may play a role in the decisions that such communities make about politeness.
