  • Experiment and Calculation for Expansion Process of Ablation Plasma Jets in Liquid

    The expansion process of ablation plasma jet in liquid was experimentally investigated by using high speed digital camera. The sequential pictures show that, in the initial stage of the jet, the Taylor cavity expands in the axial and radial directions simultaneously, and then, is subjected to the constraint of chamber wall, in axial direction be found in the surface of Taylor cavity, where the plasma cools down and condenses as solid particles while the liquid vaporizes as gas. Compared the expansion processes of the cavities among the different discharge energies and the nozzle diameters, it can be seen that the expansion speed of the cavity is directly proportional to the discharge energy and inversely to the nozzle diameter, and the effect of the discharge energy is stronger than that of the nozzle diameter. A set of equations describing the expansion process of ablation plasma jet was derived under the assumption of momentum conservation. The calculated results by use of the equations coincide with the experimented results better....

  • Calculation of Solidification Process of Continuous Cast Bar

    In this paper, it presents the results of calculation of solidification process of copper continuous cast bar by cross section size 120 mm×70 mm with application of ProCast 2010 software. The estimation of mould design effect on solidification process of continuos copper cast bar is completed at various speeds of casting. Profiles of liquid metal cavities and temperature allocations in the cast bar at various casting speeds are defined. The analysis of received liquid metal cavity profiles shows that a new mold construction allows significantly decrease of the length of the liquid metal cavity during continuous copper casting at HAZELETT? casting machine and the increase of maximum casting speed from 10 to 11 m/min. Adequacy of the results of copper continuous cast bar solidification process calculation is confirmed by the experimental data....

  • 热声系统高温段的漏热分析与防护结构的优化设计

    对热声系统高温段的漏热进行理论分析,建立高温段真空防护结构的物理模型,并基于fluent中S2S模型,对模型进行了稳态数值模拟,得到了辐射散热量、导热量、外表面的热流量随加热温度的变化,以及辐射和导热占总漏热量的比值;在此基础上,对防护结构进行优化,提出防护结构2,对比分析了两种热防护结构的防漏热效果.结果表明,真空防护结构会有效的减少系统的漏热,增大系统的热声转换效率,且优化后的结构2较结构1更能有效的减少系统漏热....

  • Experimental Investigation of Water-Entry Phenomenon

    In order to investigate the cavity shape and velocity attenuation of steel spheres after high-speed water entry, the high-speed water entry of different water entry angles were performed. The cavity shapes were recorded using high-speed photo recorder, and the velocities after water entry were measured. The diameters of equivalent disk of steel spheres after water entry were obtained from the processing of cavity images. Based on the steady and uncompressing flow assumption, a theoretical model for velocity attenuation of steel spheres with cavity was proposed and calculated results were in good agreement with the experimental results. The second cavity breaking off phenomenon, which has not been reported before, was discovered. The established theoretical model provides a reference for other relative researches....
