According to data released by the China Coal Industry Association, national coal consumption in the first half of 2017 turned positive. Coal consumption in the first half of 2017 was 1.93 billion tons, an increase of about 5% year-on-year. Except for the coal consumption in the building materials industry, which decreased by 3.2% year-on-year, coal consumption in the power industry increased by 8.2%, coal consumption in the steel industry increased by 1%, and consumption in the chemical industry increased by 6.3%. Coal growth is mainly from the power generation and industrial sectors. Since the second half of 2016, coal consumption in the industries of electricity, steel, cement and coal chemical industry has not decreased and increased. In the first half of 2017, coal consumption in some industries has accelerated. The trend of industrial coal consumption growth will cause the government and enterprises to pay attention and be alert, and resolve to reverse this trend.
