The Task Force on Carbon Capture and Storage was established by the Alberta and Federal Governments in March, 2007. Its mandate is to provide advice on how government and industry can work together to facilitate and support the development of carbon capture and storage (CCS) opportunities in Canada. CCS presents an opportunity for Canada to develop world-leading technology that can reduce greenhouse gas(GHG) emissions rapidly and on a massive scale. It is not the only solution possible or needed, but our analysis indicates that it must be part of Canada’s overall plan to reduce GHG emissions and ensure our continued economic prosperity.
