China's rise in the world's mining industry is remarkable. Now it has become the largest producer of coal and gold. These two kinds of mineral products are different in nature, but they are very similar in value to today's society, that is, "safety" gold is rare and extremely difficult to extract, and its value is measured in grams. Buyers hold gold for long-term financial security. Coal is a commodity. For a booming society, it represents the necessary resources for low-cost power generation, which provides security for a country. As a bystander, I marvel at how quickly China can increase its production, not only in mining, but also in refining, smelting and energy. Unfortunately, the United States and most countries in the world do not fully understand this growth of China. As a direct participant in mining, metallurgy and energy industry, we know this very well. The value that mining industry brings to society is often ignored. News reports are more concerned about the environmental problems caused by mining accidents and mining. This phenomenon exists all over the world, not just in China. With the rapid development of China, these problems will appear more frequently. Despite the great progress made in the past 10 years in the safety of miners, the number of mine accidents in China is still too much. The consequences of natural disasters such as earthquakes, temperature fluctuations, typhoons and other natural disasters, coupled with lower engineering standards, have a disastrous impact on the environment. As a professional in the mining industry, I hope China can learn from our experience. Our two major monthly journals, coal age ^ and Engineering & Mining Journal (E & kJ), will show readers (engineers and metallurgists) how to operate mines and equipment more safely and efficiently in terms of coal and metals, respectively. In this magazine, I have asked to add some translated articles, which explain how we can improve safety and environmental protection measures. The magazine also covers important news about mining enterprises, equipment manufacturers, mining equipment and technology. We have also specifically dealt with the German mining process. Those who do not know history will make the same mistakes as history. China's coal industry has begun to reverse, with the wide application of mechanization, mining safety factor is improving. I hope you can learn from our experience so as not to repeat our mistakes.
