Carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) presents a way to employ carbon dioxide (CO2) to produce valuable outputs and utilize techniques to store CO2 produced from industrial processes and power generation. The utilization of captured CO2 can result in the generation of revenue, which can be used to help offset the costs associated with carbon capture. There are a number of technologies available to make use of CO2, from increasing the yield of depleted oil fields, to being used as a working fluid in geothermal systems, to the carbonation of beverages. Other CCUS technologies are able to make use of captured CO2 as a chemical feedstock for products, such as urea, for energy storage by chemical reforming or biomass production, and through non-conversion uses, such as enhanced oil recovery (EOR).
