This Draft Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) provides information about the potential environmental impacts of the proposed Mountaineer Commercial Scale Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) Project (Mountaineer CCS II Project) to be located in Mason County, West Virginia near the town of New Haven. American Electric Power Service Corporation (AEP) proposes to design, construct, and operate the Mountaineer CCS II Project, which would use a chilled ammonia process (CAP) technology to capture approximately 90 percent of the carbon dioxide (CO2) from a 235-megawatt (MW) portion of AEP’s existing 1,300-MW Mountaineer Plant flue gas exhaust.
