  • Economic Analysis of Energy-efficient Buildings in China

    Applying energy-saving measures in residential buildings is usually constrained by the increase of initial investment.However, if it is analyzed from the view of energy cost and life-cycle cost, the energy-saving benefit can offset the increase of initial investment. An analysis method based on life-cycle concept was developed to calculate the energy cost of residential building flats. Several uncertain factors were included into the model, making it more accurate to reflect practical situation. The model was solved using the software DeST and applied to one residential building project in Shanghai. The case study shows that the initial investment (cost) is paid back during the operational phase through less consumption of energy. It further indicates that the investment recovery period is between 10 and 19 years which are acceptable to households and developers in China....

  • Catastrophe analysis on pillar instability considered mining effect

    The instability of the pillar was discussed based on the potential energy principle and the cusp catastrophe theory, and a simplified mechanical model of the pillar was established considering the mining effect. The necessary-sufficient conditions, the jump value of displacement of pillar and the released energy expressions were deduced. The results show that the instability of the pillar is related to the properties of the rock, the external force and the relative stiffness of the elastic area to the plastic area.   • Combined process of sequencing batch reactor activated sludge process and constructed wetland for do

    By combining sequencing batch reactor (SBR) activated sludge process and constructed wetland (CW), this study is to achieve the domestic wastewater treatment. Our purpose was to determine the optimum operating parameters of the combined process. The process involved advantages and shortages of SBR and CW. Under normal temperature, the 3rd cycle (SBR's operation cycle is 8h: inflow for 1h, limited aeration for 3h, sediment for 1h, outflow for 1h, and idling for 2h; CW's hydraulic retention time (HRT) is 24.8h and hydraulic loading is 24.5m3/m2d) was the best cyclic mode. The effluents can meet the standard GB/T18921-2002: "The reuse of urban recycling water: water quality standard for scenic environment use". In the 3rd cycle, the efficiency of CW was the maximum, and energy consumption of SBR was the minimum. Under the condition of low dissolved oxygen, the removing efficiency of chemical oxygen demand (COD) and ammonia was not affected obviously. Simultaneously, nitrification and denitrification phenomena occured and phosphorus was absorbed obviously....

  • Some characteristics of the atmosphere during an adiabatic process

    Some important characteristics of the atmosphere during an adiabatic process are investigated, which include the invariability of atmospheric entropy range and local surface potential temperature, the conservation of the atmospheric mass intervened between any isentropic surface and the ground, and the isentropic surface intersecting with the ground. The analysis shows that the atmospheric reference state (ARS) for investigation on available potential energy (APE) should be defined objectively as the state which could be approached from the existing atmosphere by adiabatic adjustment, and be related to initial atmospheric state before adjustment. For the initial atmosphere state at any time, its corresponding ARS is different from the one at another time. Based on the above-mentioned conclusions,the reference state proposed by Lorenz cannot be obtained physically, so a new conception, the conditional minimum total potential energy, is put forward in order to objectively investigate atmospheric APE....

  • Analysis of Energy Characteristics in the Process of Freak Wave Generation

    The energy characteristics in the evolution of the wave train are investigated to understand the inherent cause of the freak wave generation. The Morlet wavelet spectrum method is employed to analyze the numerical, laboratory and field evolution data of this generation process. Their energy distributions and variations are discussed with consideration of corresponding surface elevations. Through comparing the energy characteristics of three cases, it is shown that the freak wave generation depends not only on the continuous transfer of wave train energy to a certain region where finally the maximum energy occurs, but also on the distinct shift of the converged energy to high-frequency components in a very short time.     针对能量色散X荧光(Energy dispersive X-ray fluorescence,EDXRF)分析技术应用于煤炭中硫分快速测量过程中存在的基体效应和边缘效应干扰问题,采用蒙特卡罗计算程序Electron-Gamma Shower(EGS)模拟了在不同管电压、不同样品直径、厚度以及不同硫元素浓度条件下的X荧光强度.结果表明,合适的X光管的管电压为15 kV,样品的临界直径和厚度分别大于1.04 cm和0.05 cm.根据模拟结果,通过实验得到X荧光强度与硫元素浓度的关系曲线,实验结果经过探测效率修正后与EGS模拟结果符合良好,为后续的煤炭中硫分在线快速分析系统的设计和实施提供了有力的技术支撑....
